Required for most Kerala forest treks

Forest Permits & Rules

Permits help regulate visitor numbers, protect sensitive habitats, and improve safety coordination on Kerala’s forest treks. Review the latest process, fees, and district office contacts before planning your trek.

A Kerala forest trekking permit is required for most trails in Kerala’s reserved forests and wildlife sanctuaries. Permits are issued by the local Forest Department office and usually cost ₹100–₹2,500 per person depending on the trail, season, guide requirement, and route restrictions.
