Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary on the Kerala–Tamil Nadu border at 1500m is one of Kerala's driest wildlife habitats. Famous for the endemic grizzled giant squirrel and star tortoise. Multiple trails including the Giant Squirrel Trail, Star Tortoise Trail, and Waterfall Trail. Excellent birdwatching especially for dry zone species rare in the rest of Kerala.
