Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary in eastern Wayanad is part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. Guided forest trails and jeep safaris offer excellent wildlife viewing — elephant, spotted deer, wild boar, and tiger (rare). The sanctuary connects with Nagarhole and Bandipur in Karnataka forming a large wildlife corridor.
